AUDIO SOUND BITE: Bearden Says Health Care Solutions Are in Private Sector

Don’t expand government health care programs, reduce them. That’s the word from a former Missouri State Representative. Carl Bearden now runs the conservative group United For Missouri.

He hopes state lawmakers reject the proposal to expand Medicaid again this year, just as they did last year. The federal government is offering to pay the full cost of expanding Medicaid coverage for three years as part of the national health care law known as the Affordable Care Act.

Bearden says better solutions are in the private sector.

That’s from “Missouri Viewpoints.” After the initial three year period, the state would have to pick up ten-percent of the cost of expansion.
