AUDIO SOUND BITE: Former State Budget Director Supports Tax Cut Veto – Wants More Education Spending

Tax less or spend more? That’s the way a former State Budget Director sees the debate over a Republican-led plan to cut taxes.

On “Missouri Viewpoints”, Jim Moody says reducing taxes won’t result in an improved economy, but he thinks spending more in one area will.

Governor Nixon vetoed the tax cut plan but Republicans are expected to try to override that next week. House Bill 253 would gradually reduce income and business taxes over several years. The annual veto session gets underway on Wednesday (Sept. 11).
