AUDIO SOUND BITE: MO Activists Keep Pushing Back Against Common Core

By the time the 2014 school year rolls around, every public school in Missouri will be using the controversial Common Core approach to education.

While the state has already signed on to the national system, some Missouri activists aren’t giving up their opposition to it. Anne Gassel is with the Missouri Coalition Against Common Core.

That’s from “Missouri Viewpoints”. Opponents also argue that Common Core takes authority away from local schools and puts it in the hands of the federal government. Supporters of Common Core says it’s simply a set of expectations and local schools are free to decide the best way to reach them.
