AUDIO SOUND BITE: Scholarship Program Provides Additional Support for Recipients

Should we reconsider how college scholarships are awarded? With the rising cost of college, tuition assistance is more important than ever to some students. One scholarship program that is available to Missouri students, though, takes a different approach.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Young Scholars program starts working with high achievers after the seventh grade. It also assigns an advisor to work with the scholars and their families to make an education plan.

Stephanie Anderson is a Missouri recipient of the scholarship. She says that accountability is a good thing.

Anderson’s scholarship allowed her to go to a private high school. She’s now enrolled at the University of Chicago. You can learn more at J-K-C-F-dot-org.
