AUDIO SOUND BITE: Show Me Institute Opposes Medicaid Expansion

The vote was “no” this time around at the State Capitol but the issue isn’t going away any time soon.

Supporters of a federal plan to expand Medicaid coverage in Missouri say it would help over 200-thousand uninsured people in the state. They also point out that the federal government will pay for the expansion for the first three years.

The Show Me Institute’s Rick Edlund isn’t impressed with Uncle Sam’s offer.

That’s because Missouri would then be responsible for at least ten-percent of the expansion cost each year. Supporters of Medicaid expansion have promised to try again in 2014.
