The Big Stories in Missouri: Reviewing 2017 and Previewing 2018 with Missourinet

by Mike Ferguson

(St. Charles, MO) – One thing we can all agree on: 2017 was a year of change in Missouri. A new president, a new governor, a new lieutenant governor, a new state treasurer, and a new secretary of state.

Political infighting among Republicans in the Legislature. Multiple special legislative sessions .The green light from voters to build a billion-dollar airport in Kansas City. Violence in St. Louis after a police officer is acquitted of murder. The effort to bring hundreds of jobs to an impoverished part of the Bootheel. The rise and fall of hopes for Mizzou’s basketball program.

These are among the top stories of 2017.

This week, Missourinet News Director Brian Hauswirth discusses the lasting affect of these and other events that shaped our state this past year. He also gives his thoughts on what are likely to be the big stories of 2018.

Special thanks to 93.9 “The Eagle” and host Branden Rathert for contributing a video that became part of this episode.
